CHADRON, Neb. -- February 6, 2022 – The Chadron State College wrestling team lost 37-3, on Sunday afternoon, to a 21st-ranked Colorado School of Mines Orediggers squad, now 5-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Eagles fell to 4-1 in league dual action, putting them in third place in the conference standings, after Colorado Mesa took control Saturday beating Adams State 23-12 on Friday evening to move to 5-0.
The Orediggers took 9 of 10 bouts in the match, with falls at 141, 157, and 184 pounds. They also had a major decision at 149.
The Eagles' only victory was by
Kobe Lepe at 133 pounds, where a locked hands call against Mines with seconds remaining avoided sudden victory in a 3-2 win.
Three bouts came down to two points or less.
CSC has makeup dates with NWCA No. 16 Colorado Mesa on Thursday and Intermat No. 20 Western Colorado on Friday. Winning both should guarantee at least a share of the RMAC championship.
