CHADRON, Neb. -- For the second consecutive Saturday, the Chadron State College football team racked up more than 500 yards of offense and scored more than 50 points while winning a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game by a wide margin.
             
This time, the Eagles defeated Adams State 53-14 in Alamosa, Colo., both teams now have 3-4 records overall and are 2-3 in the conference.
             
The previous Saturday, Chadron State downed Fort Lewis 57-20 at Elliott Field in Chadron.
             
The Eagles jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead against Adams State, was ahead 23-7 at halftime and outscored the Grizzlies 30-7 in the second half.
             
While the Chadron State offense finished with 526 total net yards, the defense was extremely instrumental in the outcome.  That unit limited the Grizzles to 262 yards of offense, including just six yards rushing after the yardage from six quarterback sacks was deducted.  The CSC defense also blocked a punt, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble that led to touchdowns.  Another interception set up a CSC field goal.
             
Eagles' quarterback Preston Pearson completed 14 of 26 passes for 216 yards and touchdowns of 12 yards to tight end Peter Krohn and 22 yards to Rollin George.  Pearson also scored on a four-yard run after he'd connected with running back Jeydon Cox on a 33-yard pass play.
             
The Eagles' leading rusher was redshirt freshman Jake Marschall, who carried 16 times for 121 yards.
             
Another CSC ball carrier, Rylan Aguallo, scored on runs of three and four yards. A third running back, Brock Ping, scored from the six and set up Aguallo's second TD with a 43-yard run.
             
Ping's touchdown capped a 40-yard drive that began with freshman Reed Henkel recovered a fumble by an Adams State quarterback. 

Tommy Thomas led the Eagle receivers with four catches for 96 yards. 
             
Two safeties teamed up for the Eagles' second touchdown.  Tucker Peterson blocked a Adams State punt and Peyton Millis took the loose ball six yards to the end zone.  Millis also intercepted a pass that preceded Wilson Yee's 24-yard field goal to open the scoring in the second half.
             
Late in the first quarter, Yee booted a 45-yard field goal.
             
Adams State scored its first touchdown on a 22-yard pass from Marckell Greyson to Aaron Johnson to cap a 16-play, 75-yard drive in the second quarter. The Grizzlies scored again midway in the fourth when alternate quarterback Montana Neustadter and Jamarri Wright hooked up on a 40-yard pass play.
