CHADRON, Neb. -- A total of 63 fouls were committed in the Chicoine Center Sunday afternoon when the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions defeated the Chadron State women's basketball team 70-54.
 
Chadron State had three players foul out of the contest while UCCS had one.
 
After CSC lead 5-3 in the first period, the Mountain Lions scored ten consecutive points to gain an eight-point lead, in which they never lost.
 
In the third period, UCCS grew its lead to as much as 26 points. Chadron State was 0-5 from the field in the third and only scored from the free throw line where they converted 14 of their 16 attempts. The Eagles were never able to trim the deficit below 13 in the second half.
 
Due to the quantity of fouls in the game, Chadron State had more attempts from the charity stripe than they did from the field. The Eagles shot 11-35 (31.4%) from three and were 1-9 (11.1%) from beyond the arc. A total of 41 free throws were shot by CSC, who made 31 of those attempts for 75.6 percent.
 
The Mountain Lions shot one fewer attempt from the charity stripe, converting 24 of them for 60 percent. 18 of their 48 (37.5%) attempts from the field were good while the guests made 10 threes out of 22 attempts (45.5%).
 
The Eagle offense had its second highest turnover count of the season with 30. The Mountain Lions turned CSC's turnovers into 19 points while CSC scored 14 points off of 17 UCCS turnovers.
 
Chadron State outrebounded its opponent 36 to 28 and had 11 second chance points in the loss.
 
Maison White led the visitors with a game high 17 points and added a team high eight rebounds for UCCS.
 
Allison Olsen, a sophomore from Douglas, Wyoming led the Eagles with 14 points and had seven rebounds. Ashayla Powers, a junior from Longmont, Colorado, was one rebound shy of a double-double, recording 13 points and nine boards. Kyra Tanabe joined Olsen and Powers in double-figures, scoring 10.
 
Powers, who eclipsed 1000 career points in her career yesterday, had a team high five steals before eventually fouling out of the contest.
 
The loss drops Chadron State to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in RMAC play. They have the entirety of the holiday break off, returning to action January 6^th at MSU-Denver.
