Chadron State took a 3-0 lead after the top of the third in game one of the doubleheader, held in Denver.

Bailey Steinke, CSC's leadoff batter, started the day with a double and advanced to third on a passed ball. CSC's next batter, Aliyah Rothstein, singled through the right side to drive Steinke home.

After Rothstein was caught stealing, Jazlyn Arvizo hit a double but was stranded on third at the end of the inning.

The Eagle's scored another run in the top of the 2nd after a Steinke single advanced Brady Laucomer home from second.

In the top of the third, after Ashland Baca was walked, Sloane Quijas tripled down the right field line, driving home pinch runner Jessie Henchenski. Quijas's RBI gave CSC a 3-0 lead over the Rangers.

The Rangers responded to CSC's lead with five runs in the bottom of the third inning. An Olivia Wick single drove in their first run. Sienna Reed's RBI double two batters later and an errant throw from the Eagles allowed three runs to score. Reed scored two pitches later on a Shayelyn Allen single, giving the Rangers a 5-3 lead.

Scoring was halted until the top of the 6th when J'lyssa Martinez hit a solo home run, narrowing the deficit to 7-4. Quijas, after hitting a RBI triple earlier, doubled to drive home Steinke.

The Rangers threatened to score in the bottom of the 6th after Jessi Case hit a triple, but she was picked off.
