Eagles picked seventh in RMAC Football Preaseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – August 9, 2023 – The Chadron State College football team was voted seventh out of ten teams by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference head coaches in the 2023 RMAC Preseason Football Coaches' Poll, released today.

Last year's national runner-up, Colorado School of Mines, was picked as the conferences preseason favorite, with 81 points and nine first place votes.

Points values are accumulated from the league's ten head coaches, who ranked their opposition 1-9 without voting for their own team.

CSU-Pueblo is picked to finish second in the conference with 71 total votes, while Western Colorado is slated third with 62 points and one first place vote.

Behind the Mountaineers, in order, were South Dakota Mines, Black Hills State and Colorado Mesa in the sixth position.

CSC held the seventh spot with 33 points, followed by New Mexico Highlands in the eighth, Adams State in the ninth and Fort Lewis in the tenth and final spot.

The Eagles will begin the 2023 season with a new opponent, The University of Quincy in Quincy, Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm MT.

Augustana University from the Northern Sun Conference will visit Elliott Field at Don Beebe Stadium on September 9, at 12 p.m. for CSC's home opener.

Augustana was recently picked to finish fourth with two first place votes in their conference poll while Quincy came in at the six spot in the GLVC Football Preseason Poll.

CSC's first day of practice for the season occurred on Monday.
