COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Chadron State College women's basketball fell 66-58 Friday night in Colorado Springs, Colorado against the UCCS Mountain Lions.
 
CSC drops to 5-11 overall and 3-9 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The victors improve to 12-7 overall and 9-4 in the RMAC.
 
The Eagles led 10-6 in the first quarter but were held scoreless for two minutes in which the Mountain Lions gained the lead. A three pointer by Emily Vidal with 10 seconds remaining gave the hosts a seven-point lead.
 
UCCS stretched its lead to 12 at halftime and 14 at the conclusion of the third period. The Eagles outscored their opponent 16-10 in the fourth but were unable to ever get the deficit past eight.
 
The Eagles out-rebounded their opponent 34 to 28 but lost the turnover battle 28 to 10. The Mountain Lions scored 20 points off turnovers while Chadron State scored 12.
 
Chadron State made 18 of 40 attempts from the field for 45 percent in the loss. They finished 3 of 12 from behind the arc but once again showed consistency from the free throw line, making 19 of 23 attempts (82.6%).
 
The Mountain Lions attempted 23 more shots than CSC, making 26 of the 63 attempts (41.3 percent). The hosts made six of 14 attempts from three but struggled from the free throw line, converting eight of 17 attempts (47.1%).
 
Megan Counts, a sophomore from Green River, Wyoming and Allison Olsen, a sophomore from Douglas, Wyoming, both scored in double digits for the Eagles. Counts had a game high 18 points while Olsen finished with 15. The duo was excelled from the free throw line, making 14 of 17 combined attempts.
 
Awoti Akoi, a junior from Sioux Falls, S.D. and Counts both had a team high seven rebounds.
 
The Mountain Lions had a trio score in double-digits. Amyah Moore Allen had 12 points while Maison White and Vidal both added 11.
 
CSC returns to action tomorrow at 3 p.m., in Denver, Colorado against Regis.
