CHADRON, Neb. -- June 5, 2024 -- Chadron State College athletics will host a variety of youth camps from June through July, led by its head coaches and players.
Day camps are available for youth as young as kindergarten-age, and overnight camps are offered, with room and board included for high schoolers and middle schoolers in some sports.
Hundreds of high school football players are set to attend one of three team camp sessions in June. Eleven-man camps, starting with small classification schools, began on Monday. The large classification of 11-man camps runs Thursday through Saturday while the six-, eight- and nine-man camp runs June 10-12.
Chadron State football will also hold an "Eagle Prospect Camp", open to high schoolers interested in becoming NCAA Division II student-athletes. It includes combine-style testing, full-contact competition, and it concludes with a forum with coaches on the college recruiting process. The first prospect camp was held on June 2
nd and the next will be July 28.
Chadron State's men's wrestling team camp for grades 7-12 is June 17-19 and has recently hosted upwards of 500 campers. During last year's 24th annual running of the event, over 450 wrestlers from 30 different teams attended. Men's wrestling is also hosting a Peewee Camp for individuals in grades kindergarten-sixth. Camps will have the option to either participate in one day or both days on August 5 and 6.
CSC's women's wrestling camps begin on Wednesday. The four-day camp is open to all ages but grades 8-12 are the only ones allowed to stay on campus. Two days of the camp are broken up into multiple technique and training sessions while competition sessions will be filtered in throughout the four days.
The CSC women's basketball program has four camps this year, beginning June 10 with an Elite Camp. A high school team camp will run on June 11 and 12 before a Little Eagles Camp for girls and boys entering grades K-6
th on June 13 and 14. A development camp for those entering grades 4
th-12
th will conclude the women's basketball camps on June 15.
Chadron State College Spirit Squad camps began on June 3 and conclude today for those in grades K-8
th. A high school skills camp will be run on June 21.
CSC men's basketball will host a Future Eagles camp and a Rising Eagles Camp on June 20 and 21. The Future Eagles camp is for individuals entering grades 3
rd-5
th while the Rising Eagles is for those in grades 6
th-8
th. Last year's assistant coach, Kyle Hunt, will direct the two camps.
Concluding the June camp schedule is two volleyball camps. A high school skills camp for defensive specialists and setters is on June 28 and 29 while middle blockers, outside hitters and right sides have a high school skills camp on June 29 and 30.
Finally, in July, CSC volleyball will host four different camps. First, a youth skills camp will be July 10-11, followed by a high school team camp on the 12-14. Following the high school camps, two middle school camps will take place. First, a skills camp on July 19-20, before a middle school team camp on July 21.
Chadron State golf is hosting a skills camp on July 16-18. It is open for all individuals in grades K-12 and runs from 9 a.m. until noon each day.
Softball has the final CSC athletic camp of the summer on July 30. It is a skills camp for girls aged 14 and up.
