COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State punter
Brodie Eisenbraun was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday after his performance during CSC's 18-3 loss last weekend against Colorado Mesa.
Eisenbraun punted seven times for an average of 49 yards per punt, the eighth-longest single-game punting average in Chadron State program history. Against CMU, the South Dakotan placed three punts inside the 20-yard line with zero touchbacks and had four boots of 50 yards or more, including a season-long 64-yarder that is the third-longest punt in the RMAC this season.
For the season, Eisenbraun leads the RMAC with six punts over 50 yards and has not recorded a touchback in any of his 22 punts this year. He has also placed eight of those 22 punts inside the 20, a total that ranks second in the conference. Eisenbraun's season average of 44.5 yards per punt ranks 11
th in Division II and third in the RMAC.
This marks the second consecutive week that the Chadron football team has captured one of the RMAC's three weekly awards after safety
Dax Yeradi took home Defensive Player of the Week honors last week.
With two awards on the season, CSC has already matched its total of wins from the 2023 season, when
Tommy Thomas (offensive) and
Hunter O'Connor (defensive) took home one award apiece. Chadron State also took home two weekly awards during the 2022 season – a defensive win from O'Connor and a special teams win from former Eagles kicker Gunnar Jones.
While Eisenbraun will take home the honors, he was far from the only strong special teams candidate on Chadron State's roster this week. Kicker
Wilson Yee booted a 57-yard field goal on his only attempt of the game, which was tied for the second-longest kick in program history. Yee holds the record with his 61-yarder from last season. The Eagles also blocked two extra points and forced another missed PAT from the Mavericks during Saturday's contest.
Chadron State (1-3, 0-2 RMAC) will host Adams State (0-4, 0-2 RMAC) this Saturday at noon at Elliott Field at Don Beebe Stadium. The game will feature a ceremony honoring the 2024 class being inducted into the CSC Hall of Fame.
