CHADRON, Neb. – The Chadron State women's cross country team finished first overall in the team standings of the women's 6K race at the Yellow Jackets/Battlin' Bears Open in Billings, Montana, led by
Lydia Peters finishing in fifth place. Out of a total of 76 women completing, the Eagles had five women finish in the top 15.
The women's team placed first out of 10 competing teams. The men's team finished third, trailing behind Rocky Mountain State and South Dakota Mines, out of seven competing teams.
Behind Peters, who ran the 6K course in 22:57.7, the women had four more top 15 finishers – Samantha Rodewald (6th, 23:11.7), Katelyn Beshara (12th, 23:52.9), Kyndall Carnahan (13th, 23:53.7) and Paige Kehmeier (14th, 23:58.9).
Izabella Miller,
Ivy Hise and
Zelma Rudd also ran for the Eagles, finishing 16th, 44th and 47th.
On the men's side,
Nate Mann crossed the finish line in 10th place out of a field of 103 runners with a 25:40.5 time, beating his last race time of 26:37.7. Behind Mann,
Blaine Johnson finished 14th with a 26:03.4 time.
The rest of the top five runners for the Eagles were freshmen Kaden Boltz (29th, 26:39.3) and Boady Hunter (39th, 27:16.4) plus junior Adam Beard (44th, 27:29).
Also running for Chadron State was
Miles Mitchell (55th),
Mizaiha Babers Webb (73rd),
David West (85th) and
Carmelo Ayala (90th).
The program will take two weeks off before traveling to Colorado Springs to compete in the RMAC Cross Country Championships on October 25.
