CHADRON, Neb. — The Chadron State women's basketball team fell to Western Colorado 77-24 in this Thursday's game.
Freshman Ella Moser led the Eagles by scoring 12 points, which was half of the total points made by the Eagles. Moser shot 4-11 from the field and made two three-pointers.
Defensively, Alex Ridenour had three steals and a block for the Eagles. McKenzi Petersen, Audrey Quintana and Amya Winfrey scored three points apiece for CSC.
The Mountaineers shot 45.9 percent (28-61) from the field, while the Eagles shot 18.6 percent (8-43). WCU also shot 45.8 percent from the three-point line and 76.9 percent from the free throw line. Chadron shot 12.5 percent from the three-point line and 50 percent from the free throw line.
Western Colorado quickly gained the lead in the first quarter. They scored the first 12 points of the game and led 28-5 after the first quarter and 45-9 at halftime. The Eagles scored over half of their points in the second half of the game but couldn't keep up with the Mountaineers scoring runs. Western Colorado also grabbed 53 rebounds to Chadron State's 17.
WCU's Ivey Schmidt led the game with 18 points, including four three-pointers.
Chadron State will finish their season with a senior night on Saturday against Westminster in the Chicoine Center at 1 p.m. The Griffins are 8-17 and 5-14 in the RMAC.
