Logan O'Brien Receives 2026 Clyde Bond Award

CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State linebacker Logan O'Brien has been named as the 2026 winner of the Clyde Bond Memorial Award, given annually to a Chadron State senior who displays outstanding moral character, sportsmanship, athletic ability and academic excellence.

The award has been given annually since 1981 by the friends and family of Clyde Bond, a former Chadron State baseball pitcher who died in a tragic accident in April 1981 just after graduating from CSC. For a full list of Clyde Bond Memorial Award winners, click here.

O'Brien earned the 2026 honor after a breakout season on the gridiron that saw him tally 85 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. O'Brien had a decorated fall awards season, winning four RMAC Defensive Player of the Week awards plus the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year award and snagging First Team Don Hansen All-America honors and Second Team accolades from the Associated Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

Also a model student, O'Brien finished his career with a 3.97 GPA as a business marketing major. He was also named the RMAC's Academic Defensive Player of the Year.

O'Brien graduated from Chadron State this May. He was presented with a plaque commemorating the award at CSC's 2026 Ivy Day ceremonies.
