COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior middle hitter Sarah Meservey has been named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week after a school record-tying performance that set the standard for blocking in the RMAC this season.

In receiving the honor, Meservey becomes the first CSC athlete to win an RMAC weekly award (offensive, defensive or setter) since former libero Alondra Hernandez on November 11, 2024, and just the second Eagle volleyball player to do so since the year 2020.

Meservey averaged 2.0 blocks/set by racking up 18 blocks during CSC's nine sets of action during RMAC Regional Pod Week. The Utah native tallied five blocks during a four-set win over Black Hills State on Tuesday, but saved her best for a five-set thriller with South Dakota Mines on Thursday.

In that contest, Meservey racked up 13 blocks, including two solo blocks. The total of 13 tied the Chadron State single-match record set by Susan Stam in 1988 and was also the most by an RMAC player in a single match since Regis's Braiziah Dixon on October 5, 2024. 

Meservey's performance helped Chadron State to a team total of 19 blocks, CSC's most in four seasons and tied for the most by an RMAC team in a match this season. 

Although she is winning the defensive honor, Meservey also helped out on the offensive end, recording four kills against Black Hills State and hitting six kills with no errors for a .500 hitting percentage on Thursday against the Hardrockers. 

Meservey's 13 blocks against South Dakota Mines were, unsurprisingly, a season high – but the Central Wyoming College transfer is no stranger to stuffing RMAC opponents. Meservey ranks second in the RMAC with 1.28 blocks per set, third in the league with 69 total blocks and tied for third with 12 solo blocks entering this week's games.

Chadron State enjoys a weekend at home coming up, hosting Adams State on Friday for the team's Dig Pink night and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday. First serve for both is scheduled for 6 p.m.
