Chadron State College Athletics

2019--An elite athlete who is expected to rank among the nation’s best long jumpers regardless of classification and also score often in the sprints and triple jump.  He won the 60 and both jumps in early December at the Colorado Mines Alumni Classic.  All six of his long jumps were national meet automatic qualifiers and his winning mark of 26-1 (7.95 meters) led the nation entering the opening meets in the New Year.  His winning triple jump of 49-3 ¾ gave him the school record indoors in both events. His winning time in the 60 was 6.85 seconds.
2018--Had a great freshman season, particularly in the long jump, where he placed sixth at the National Indoor Championships at 24-9 and fifth outdoors at 24-6 ½.  Missed the RMAC Indoor Championships because of a tight hamstring, but had already qualified for nationals and went his career-best at nationals in Pittsburg, Kan.  He was healthy during the outdoor season and won both the RMAC long jump (25-2 ½) and triple jump (49-8 ½).  The latter is the CSC outdoor record.  He also had bests of 6.97 in the 60, 22.59 in the 200 and 49.25 in the 400 indoors. He did not run individual sprint races outdoors, but had some exceptional marks while running legs on both relays.  Was named both the RMAC Field Athlete and Male Freshman of the Year.
 Before Chadron State—He triple jumped 47-9 ½, high jumped 6-6 and ran the high hurdles in 15.12 seconds and the intermediates in 40.77 as a high school senior in 2016.  Surprisingly, his best long jump in high school was less than 22 feet.
Personal— Son of Cristal Grimes. A sports and recreation management major. Made the Dean’s List by having a GPA of at least 3.5 during the 2017 fall semester.
