2017 - Cody Roes is a Chadron native and was an outstanding inside receiver for the Eagles during his playing career. After serving as an assistant football coach and head basketball coach at Valentine High School the past three years, Roes has returned to his alma mater this fall as a graduate assistant and is helping coach the players at his old position.
Roes was an all-stater in both football and basketball at Chadron High School, where he graduated in 2008. During his football career at CSC, Roes caught 117 passes for 1,241 yards and 19 touchdowns. The latter total is the most ever for a CSC tight end.
He was third-team all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as junior in 2012, when he had 32 receptions for 317 yards. The following year, he moved up to the second-team and had 54 receptions for 576 yards and 10 TDs. He also was placed on the Super Region 4 second-team and the Beyond Sports Network All-American second-team that season.
In addition, he was placed on the Omaha World-Herald’s All-Nebraska NCAA II team as both a junior and a senior. He received another outstanding honor in 2014, when he was among the 53 players placed on Chadron State’s All-Century Football Team.
