2021 - Dylan Furrier returned to his alma mater Chadron State in January of 2021 as a full-time assistant coach in charge of special teams and defensive backs.
He comes to CSC after two and a half years working with the University of Arizona athletic department.
There, he began in the Strength and Conditioning team, where he successfully guided the Wildcats football team through the Covid-19 pandemic, improvising workout programs on the fly to keep his Division I athletes in top form. He personally trained athletes, such as former Wildcats defensive lineman Finton Connolly, in preparation for professional football endeavors, following their college careers.
In November 2020, Furrier joined Kevin Sumlin's football staff as a defensive analyst, alongside former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil.
He spent two seasons as a member of Coach Long's football staff in 2016 and 2017, as a graduate coaching assistant. During those two years working with linebackers, Colin Eisenman earned back-to-back Second Team All-RMACÂ honors at outside linebacker, and Keenan Johnson earned inside linebacker honorable mention.
Furrier played as a linebacker during his years at CSC, and he was placed on the RMAC All-Conference Second Team as well as the Omaha World Herald All-Star Team in the 2014 season. He also lead the team with 118 tackles, including 63 solo stops, in that season. He was a team captain.
He ranks seventh all-time at CSC for total tackles and is tied for fourth with five forced fumbles.
Furrier, from Tuscon, Ariz., graduated from CSC in 2016 with a degree in sports and recreation management. He earned his MBA from CSC in 2018.
He is married to another former CSC student-athlete, the former Jamie McLain.
