Mitch Collicott

Former Chadron State football player and coach Mitch Collicott returned to his alma mater as the program’s new special teams coordinator and defensive line coach in February 2026.

A McCook, Nebraska native, Collicott returns to Chadron State after spending one season as the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato (DII) and three seasons on staff at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (DIII), where he was a co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach.

During his one season in Minnesota, the Mavericks went 8-3 in the regular season while winning the 2025 NSIC South Division Title. In the playoffs they were the 2025 Super Region 3 Runners Up. That season, Collicott mentored 2 first team All-NSIC football selections and 1 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American.

During his three seasons at UW-La Crosse, he was a part of 2 WIAC conference championships and 3 NCAA DIII playoff appearances. In his first season in 2022, he served as the defensive line coach & strength and conditioning coordinator where he coached multiple WIAC All-Conference honorees and an All-Region First Team selection. In 2023 & 2024 he was promoted to the team’s co-defensive coordinator.

During the 2023 season, UWL allowed just 23.2 points per game as the Eagles allowed 338.7 yards of offense per game. That season he also coached multiple WIAC All-Conference honorees and an All-Region First Team selection. During the 2024 season, UW-La Crosse led the WIAC in sacks and fumbles recovered. The Eagles also finished in the top-four in scoring defense, yards allowed, rushing yards allowed that season. Collicott mentored the WIAC Individual Sack Leader in both the 2022 & 2024 seasons.

Collicott was previously at Chadron State from 2013-2022, spending five seasons as a player and four seasons on the coaching staff. He was a two-time All-RMAC honoree as a defensive tackle, winning Second-Team All-RMAC honors while serving as a team captain in 2017 and earning Honorable Mention All-RMAC plaudits in 2016.

Collicott began his coaching career at CSC, serving as a coaching assistant on the defensive side of the ball from 2018-2021. During that time, he mentored two All-RMAC defensive line honorable mention selections and assisted with Special Teams.
