Biography

2012: Developed into one of Jonn McLain’s most trustworthy targets at Y-receiver, finishing with 32 receptions for 317 yards and four TDs … Along with Nathan Ross, he started every game at receiver … He averaged nearly 10 yards a reception and was named to the All-RMAC Third Team and the All-Nebraska D-II First Team following the season … “He’s a tough, hard-nosed guy who just knows how to win at everything he does,” Long said. … He was named a team captain prior to the season opener … He had six receptions in three different games, including a 76-yard, two touchdown effort against Colorado Mesa.
2011: Had a solid junior campaign, recording 29 catches for 340 yards and scoring five touchdowns … Was often one of the most reliable receiving options and his downfield blocking is also a major asset … Against Fort Lewis he had a career-high nine receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns … He also had four more games where he registered at least 40 yards receiving and he scored at least one TD in his final three games … He also had two solo tackles on special teams.
2010: Played in nine games as an alternate inside receiver … He had two catches for 28 yards and added a tackle on special teams … Is a good blocker and understands the offensive scheme.
2009: Did not play football.
2008: Redshirted during his first season at Chadron State.
High School: Earned Class C-1 all-state honors from the Omaha World-Herald and Huskerland Prep after leading Chadron High to a 10-1 season and a top 10 ranking in 2007 … Played fullback and inside linebacker … Averaged 5.6 yards while rushing for 674 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns … Led the team in tackles with 56 solo and 33 that were assisted … Earned second-team C-1 all-state in basketball as a junior, when he shot 51.6 percent from the field and averaged 14 points and nine rebounds on the Chadron team that reached the state championship game in 2006 … As a senior, he averaged 12.6 points and 8.9 rebounds and helped Chadron High reach the state tourney again … Played in several all-star contests, including the Shrine Bowl.
Personal: A physical education major with a 3.30 GPA … Son of Jamie and Sandy Roes … His brother-in-law, Tim Collins, was a graduate assistant men’s basketball coach at CSC who is now an assistant AD at Black Hills State … His youngest brother, Braden, is a linebacker at Black Hills State … His oldest sister, Renee, graduated from Chadron State and his younger sister’s name is Brooke … Born Sept. 29.
