2013: Named a preseason All-American by USA College Football … Also placed on the RMAC Preseason All-Conference team.
2012: One of the emotional leaders of the team who started every game at right tackle and helped the Eagles’ offense average over 400 yards of total offense and over 33 points each game … Another example of a Chadron State student-athlete who has turned himself into a valuable member of the team … He originally walked on to the team in the fall of 2009 and played at defensive line before finding a home on the offensive side of the ball in the spring of 2010 … “He’s one of the most intense guys we have on the team,” Long said. “He plays football like it’s supposed to be played.” … Will start at left tackle in 2013 after playing most of his career on the right side … Named to the All-Nebraska D-II First Team and the All-RMAC Second Team following the season.
2011: He was thrust into the starting lineup when the starting right tackle was injured in a car accident and he made the most of his opportunity … He started the Eagles’ first three games and then continued to be a valuable reserve and special teams player the remainder of the season.
2010: He opened the season at defensive line but in the spring he transitioned to the offensive line, where he was a reserve.
2009: Joined the team in the fall after school started and redshirted during his first season at CSC.
High School: Hails from the strong football program at Valentine High ... He played on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Badgers before graduating in 2008 ... Competed in wrestling and golf during high school.
Personal: A criminal justice major ... Jake joined the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department in the summer of 2012 … Son of Mike and Mary ... Born Nov. 11.
