Biography

2014: Named a team captain.
2013: Led the Eagles to an 8-3 record ... He was named to the RMAC All-Conference Second Team and the All-Nebraska First Team ... He threw for a career-high 2,615 yards and 23 TDs ... He completed 65.5 percent of his passes as he continued to climb the CSC record charts ... Also named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team ... Named a team captain for the third time.
2012: Arguably had the most effective statistical season a quarterback at Chadron State has ever had, throwing for 2,606 yards, 30 touchdowns and just six interceptions ... He completed 21 consecutive passes in a game against Black Hills State to set an NCAA record ... He averaged 217 yards through the air each game and he had eight receivers catch at least 10 passes ... Following the season, he was named the All-Nebraska Division II Offensive Captain and a second a team All-RMAC choice ... Helped lead the Eagles to a 9-3 record and a berth in the playoffs ... Named the RMAC All-Academic Player of the Year and was a team captain for the second time.
2011: Had a frustrating season after playing brilliantly as a redshirt freshman in 2010 … He suffered a head injury against the University of Mary in the season opener and sat out the second half … A week later against Angelo State, he played arguably his best game – completing 19 of 29 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns – but he broke a bone in his non-throwing hand that required him to medically redshirt … Incidentally, he broke the bone in the second quarter and still played the remainder of the game … Completed 32 of 50 passes for the season for 419 and didn’t toss an interception … An RMAC All-Academic Honorable Mention selection and a captain.
2010: Came in the second half of the Eagles’ first game of the season after starting quarterback Garrett Treffer suffered an injury … The offense didn’t miss a beat and he connected on seven of 10 passes for 89 yards and a TD … He made his first career start the next week at Pittsburg State and played well enough the rest of the season to keep the job … He finished the season completing 170 of 271 passes for 1,894 yards and 16 touchdowns … He completed 62.7 percent of his passes, giving him the third best seasonal percentage in school history … He also rushed for two touchdowns … Threw for a season-high 245 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles’ season finale against Mesa State … Named honorable mention to the All-Nebraska Division II team.
2009: Redshirted during his first season at CSC but often traveled with the team as the emergency QB … Named the Offensive Service Team MVP.
Personal: His older brother Joe, who also wore No. 13, is an all-time CSC great football player … Joe was 38-4 as a starter at CSC and helped lead the Eagles to the NCAA D-II playoffs three straight years ... He is an assistant coach at CSC this year t... Both of Jonn’s sisters, Jamie and Jazzy, play volleyball at Chadron State ... Son of Jerry and Tina McLain ... Born July 21.
