2018 - James Healy begins his second season on the Chadron State College basketball staff after a productive playing career which culminated in two years' experience in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, as a starter at guard for both his junior and senior seasons at New Mexico Highlands University. While coaching, the Albuquerque native will also pursue a graduate degree at CSC.
Over two seasons, Healy averaged 40.3 percent from beyond the three-point line, leading the team in 2016-17 with 55 treys. He also excelled at the free throw line with team highs of 82.8 percent and 92.9 percent shooting his junior and senior seasons. In 2015-16, he helped the Cowboys to a 14-8 conference record and the sixth seed in the RMAC Shootout postseason tournament. As a senior, Healy was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team with a 4.0 grade point average.
Prior to NMHU, Healy played one season at Concordia-St. Paul, where he was a three-point specialist, helping his team to its highest conference finish and first NSIC tournament win since 2007.
In 2013-14 he played under current CSC Head Men's Basketball Coach Houston Reed, and alongside current CSC assistant Jalen Little, as Reed coached the Rattlers to an 18-12 overall record. Healy was named an Academic All-American for his freshman year.
