2021 - Thomas Ammon will be on the CSC coaching staff for a second season in 2021-22, after helping the Eagles to their first conference postseason and their best league place finish in nearly a decade.
Prior to coaching at Chadron State, Ammon spent three seasons as a member of the Chico State men’s basketball coaching staff. In his three years at Chico State, the Northern California native helped the Wildcats win 29 games and reach postseason play in 2017–18, and a record of 23-7 in 2019-2020, helping Chico State make the NCAA tournament as the four-seed in the West Region. In addition to his coaching duties, Ammon handled all of the Wildcats’ administrative responsibilities, including video and practice coordination, team travel, scouting, budgeting, schedule coordination, marketing, academic monitoring, community outreach, student-athlete development, and supervision of the program’s team managers and interns
Ammon joined the Wildcats after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Fresno City College. From 2013–17, he helped guide the Rams to four straight Central Valley Conference (CVC) titles, two postseason trips to the California Junior College Elite Eight and one California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Final Four appearance. Ammon’s overall record at Fresno City was an impressive 109-21.
As a player, Ammon was a two-year standout at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, earning All-Midwest Athletic Conference honors. He also starred for two seasons at Fresno City College, and was named the CVC Defensive Player of the Year.
Ammon was a prep standout at Redding’s Shasta High School, twice earning All-Eastern Athletic League and All-Northern Section honors.
Ammon received his bachelor’s degree in history and philosophy from Clarke University in 2010. He is currently working towards his master’s degree in kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University.
