Biography
2014: Got the season off to a fast start by winning both the shot put (51-6 ¼) and the weight throw (58-3 ¼) at the Yellow Jackets Holiday Meet in December 2013…Both marks are provisional qualifiers for the National Indoor Meet…Just prior to that meet, Charith returned to his homeland and won the shot put (nearly 55 feet) the hammer throw (163 feet) and the discus (nearly 170 feet) at the Sri Lanka National Games.
2013: Had a great season, topped perhaps by setting the school record in the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 60-2 at the NCAA National Indoor Meet, where he finished ninth, one place out of All-American…He had earlier won the event at the RMAC Meet at 58-9 ½…Also was second in the shot at the RMAC Meet at 53-1 ½….He had a career-best of 54- ¼ in the shot…At the RMAC Outdoors Meet, he was second to teammate Cody Hunt in the shot at 54-7 ¼ as well as second in the discus at 161-2 and third in the hammer throw at 157-8…Had bests of 167-8 and 157-11 in the latter two events.
2012: Was sixth in the weight throw (53-6 ¼) and seventh in the shot (50-2) at the RMAC Indoor Meet…Moved up to second in the shot (55-2 ¾) and was fifth in the discus (152-7) at the conference’s outdoor meet…Had a best of 165-6 in the discus and 154-7 in the discus.
Before CSC: Charith attended Barton County Community College at Great Bend, Kan., in 2010-11 before coming to CSC.
Personal: Son of Monel Kapukotuwa…Born Sept. 15, 1990…A criminal justice major with a B average.
