Biography
2013: Competed only during the indoor season, and it was a great one, then missed the outdoor campaign because of a foot injury…Set the school indoor record of 15-5 at his first meet, the Yellow Jackets Holiday Meet in December 2012…Lost the school record in January when transfer Kolten Jelden went 15-7…However, Hoopes edged Jelden for the RMAC indoor title when both went 15-6 ½ but Skyler had fewer misses.
Prior to 2013: Hoopes was a standout all-around athlete at Niobrara County High in Lusk…Was an all-state football player and won the Class 2A pole vault at the Wyoming State Meet as both a junior and a senior with a career-best 14-2 as a senior in 2008…He then spent two years on a Mormon Church mission and enrolled at CSC in the fall of 2011…He did not compete in track that year…Son of Gary and Kelly Hoopes, now of Mountain View, Wyo…Born Sept, 26, 1989…A sports and recreation management major.
