Before CSC: Attended Eastern Wyoming in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years where he participated in steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and team roping. 
High School: Graduated from Rapid City Central High School. He was a four-time South Dakota state qualifier.
Personal: Son of Bill and Edna Shorb.
