Chadron State College Athletics

2016—Had an exciting senior season with the CSC cross country team this past fall.  Highlights included placing 11^th at the RMAC Championships in 25:53.4 to become the first CSC male to earn first-team all-conference (the honor goes to the top 14 finishers), and then becoming the first CSC athlete to qualify for the National Championships.   He qualified by placing 21^st in 32:21 at the South Central Regional Meet in Denver to claim one of the three berths available to runners who are not members of the five teams that qualify for nationals.  At nationals, Garcia placed 65^th among the 242 entries in 31:44.3. In addition, at the national meet he was the recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 Award that is presented to the national qualifier with the highest GPA.  Earlier, he was the recipient of the Summit Award given by the RMAC to the cross-country runner with the highest GPA.  During the spring of 2016, he received the Summit Award for both the indoor and outdoor track seasons.  He has an almost perfect 4.0 GPA.  Alejandro has concluded his indoor eligibility, but will compete during the 2017 outdoor season.    
2014-15—Transferred from Gillette College in the fall of 2014 and was among the leaders on the CSC cross country team, earning the men’s most valuable male athlete award. Since he had never run indoor track at Gillette, he competed for the Eagles during the 2015 indoor season, running the 3000 meters in 9:01.99 and the 5000 meters in 15:15.11. He redshirted during the outdoor season.  He also redshirted during the fall of 2015 in cross country.
Before Chadron State— As a senior at Pine Bluffs High School in the fall of 2011, he won the Wyoming 2A state cross country championship. He also won the 3200 meters at the Wyoming State Track Meet the following spring in 9:58.60 and was second in the 800 meters in 1:59.19. He was the top cross country runner at Gillette College both years he competed there.
