2019: Rich came to Chadron State following three seasons as an assistant coach on the Ohio Wesleyan track & field coaching staff. There he guided and developed the throwers, while also programming the strength and conditioning for multiple groups on campus.
During Rich's time at OWU, he helped 24 athletes achieve all-time top-10 marks in school history. He coached Cade Richeson to become the top freshman shot put thrower in NCAA Division III in 2018, winning the North Coast Athletic Conference title in the event at both the indoor and outdoor championships and advancing to the national meets in both seasons. Richeson also won the discus at that season's conference outdoor meet, and won the indoor shot put title at the DIII All-Ohio championships.
Rich arrived at Ohio Wesleyan after serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi during the 2015-16 academic year. He also trained with the American Big Guys Throws Club in the javelin. Rich also served as a volunteer assistant throws coach at Spanish Fort High School in Spanish Fort, Ala.
He earned his USATF level one coaching certification in August 2015. He is also USAW and USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning certified.
Rich is a 2014 graduate of Southern Mississippi, earning a bachelor's degree in sports management. During his career with the Golden Eagles, he was a three-time qualifier for the NCAA East Regional meet, and finished as the bronze medalist in the javelin at the Conference USA outdoor track & field championship in 2013. Rich continued his education by earning a master's degree in sports management in 2016.
He is a native of Spanish Fort, Ala.
