Biography
2016—Another of the Eagles’ excellent throwers. Had bests of 47-4 ½ in the shot put and 55-5 ½ in the weight throw during the indoor season and bests of 48-3 ½ in the shot put, 171-3 ½ in the hammer and 165-9 ¾ in the discus. He was second in the weight at the RMAC Indoor Meet and seventh in the hammer outdoors.
2015—Redshirted both indoors and outdoors.
Before Chadron State—As a senior at Newton High in 2014, he had bests of 55-7 in the shot put and 176-6 in the discus. Both marks ranked among the top eight in the all-class standings at the Kansas State Meet.
Personal: Son of Quint and Leisa Martens. A stellar student who received honorable mention on the RMAC academic lists during both the indoor and outdoor seasons and earned all A’s in the fall of 2016.
