Chadron State College Athletics

2017—Because she suffered a broken ankle late in the 2016 outdoor season, she missed the 2016 cross country schedule and is trying to regain the conditioning she’ll need to be competitive this spring.  Coach Brian Medigovich thinks she’ll be going strong by the outdoor season.
2016—Set four school records—two of them indoors (3000 in 10:10.36 and 5,000 in 17:32.91) and two outdoors (5000 in 17:42.49 and 10,000 in 36:33.57) before the ankle injury sidelined her. Made the RMAC academic first- team and received the Most Inspirational Award for the CSC women’s track team.  During the 2015 cross country season, she led the Eagles at both the RMAC Meet (14^th in 22:34.8) and the South Central Regional Meet (24^th in 22:27.0) to become the first Chadron State athlete to earn either All-RMAC and All-Regional honors.  Both races were six kilometers. Her regional time was CSC’s second fastest all-time.
2015—As a redshirt freshman, she had indoor bests of 5:35.76 in the mile and 10:43.05 in the 3000 (CSC’s 4^th all-time). Outdoors, she set CSC’s 5000-meter record of 17:57.44 at the Bryan Clay Meet in California on April and had a best of 4:49.99 in the 1500 while winning the race at South Dakota Mines.
2014—Redshirted, but had times of 5:40.35 in the mile and 11:21.37 indoors and 5:12.17 in the 1500 and 19:20.34 in the 5000 outdoors while running at open meets.
 Before Chadron State—Was undefeated in the 3200 through the Class B district meet as Chadron High School senior in 2014, qualified in that event for the state meet and ran on the Cardinals’ fourth place 4x800 relay at the state. 
Personal:   She began running under the guidance of her father, Danny Applegarth, about the time she entered kindergarten.  Won the 5k portion of the Chadron’s Colter Run in July 2015 for the first time after running in that race for at least 10 years.  Married Zac Banzhaf of Chadron, now a CSC senior, on New Year’s Eve 2014.  A social work major and a high honor student.
