Ethan Freitas joined the Chadron State athletic department as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2026.
Freitas is a licensed athletic trainer in Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota as well as with the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Freitas comes to CSC after four years on staff at the University of Health Science and Pharmacy, an NAIA institution in St. Louis, Missouri, including three years where he served as the head athletic trainer. In that role, Freitas managed the sports medicine department, including the hiring and retaining on staff, maintaining supplies, ensuring HIPPA compliance and establishing and enforcing policies and procedures for the department. Freitas also assisted with injury assessment and evaluation while working with coaches to establish nutrition and conditioning plans.
Freitas was recognized for his work at UHSP in 2024-25 by the American Midwest Conference, which named him that league's Trainer of the Year.
Prior to UHSP, Freitas worked as a graduate assistant at Mercy Orthopedic Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, and worked in physical therapy outreach in Illinois.
Freitas graduated from Truman State University (Mo.) with a bachelor's degree in athletic training in 2019 before graduating from Missouri State University with a master's in athletic training and athletics management in 2024.
