CSC women to play in Missouri on Saturday

CHADRON – After playing an exhibition game at the University of Wyoming last Friday night, the Chadron State College women's team will officially open its season by playing Missouri Western at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph.
 
The Griffons were 16-12 a year ago and are pegged to finish eighth by both the coaches and the media in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association this season. 
 
Two starters from a year ago are back. They are seniors JaQuitta Dever and Lanicia Lawrence. Both are about 5-foot-6 and averaged about eight points a game last season.
 
Missouri Western defeated a team known as Livin the Dream 98-77 in an exhibition game on Tuesday night. Tiara Hall, a 6-1 junior transfer, led the Griffons with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Missouri Western out-rebounded its opponent 54-33.
 
Dever handed out 10 assists from the point guard position.
 
The Eagles will make their home debut on at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 against Wayne State.
