Box Score ST. JOSEPH, Mo.—The Missouri Western women's basketball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first six and a half minutes and led 28-9 at halftime en route to a 59-38 victory over Chadron State in the season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph.

The Eagles made just three of 25 field goal attempts and two of 10 free throws in the first half. They shot better in the second half, when they were nine of 25 from the field and nine of 14 from the free throw line and the Griffons outscored them by just 31-29.

Thirteen players scored for Missouri Western, led by 6-foot-1 transfer Tiara Hall with 13 points. Both Quensiha Lockett and Ariana Novak added eight points. As a team, the Griffons were 23 of 57 from the field for 40.4 percent. Both teams finished with 11 free throws.  Â

Kayli Rageth led the Eagles with 16 points, but none of her teammates scored more than five.

Hall and Rageth shared the game's rebounding honors with 10 apiece. Overall, Missouri Western out-rebounded the Eagles 48-38.Â

The Eagles will host Wayne State at 6 p.m. on Thursday and will play at Montana State-Billings on Saturday.
