Selsor leads fifth-ranked Mavs over Eagles

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Sharaya Selsor scored 40 points to lead the fifth-ranked Colorado Mesa University women's basketball team to an 86-41 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Friday at Brownson Arena.
 
Selsor, the reigning RMAC Player of the Week, hit 14 of 24 shots from the field, nine of 11 from the charity stripe and added seven rebounds, six assists and five steals to lead the Mavericks to their fifth win of the season.
 
Chadron State's Kattie Ranta scored 16 points and hauled in 12 rebounds to record her fourth-straight double double to lead the Eagles, now 0-5.
 
Also for Chadron State, Kayli Rageth added 10 points and eight boards and Dallas Shaw chipped in five points and eight rebounds.
 
The Eagles hung with the Mavericks for much of the first half – at halftime the score was 36-23 – but Mesa went on an 18-2 scoring run in the second half and shot over 42 percent (18-42) from the field while limiting CSC to 17 percent (5-30).
 
The Mavericks played well inside and out. They outscored the Eagles 48-18 in the paint and hit five more 3-pointers.
 
The Eagles will play at Western State, which defeated Black Hills State Friday, today at 5:30.
