Charith Kapukotuwa, a junior thrower from Chilaw, Sri Lanka and Alyssa Norton, a junior thrower from Rushville Neb., have been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Field Athletes of the Week.
Kapukotuwa won the weight throw event with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 57-feet, 2 1/2 inches at the Chadron State Twilight. He also took second in the shot put with a toss of 52-feet, 7 3/4 inches. Kapukotuwa ranks ninth in Division II in the weight throw and 22nd in the shot put.
Norton had career best marks while winning both the shot put at 46-6 and the 20-pound weight throw at 53-¾. Both are provisional qualifying marks for the national meet.
