GUNNISON, Colo. – The ninth-ranked Western State wrestling team won six matches, including four of the last five, en route to its 23-13 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Friday evening in Gunnison, Colo.
 
The Mountaineers, now 4-2, 2-1 RMAC, never trailed in the dual while defeating Chadron State (9-5, 3-2 RMAC) for the seventh-straight time.
 
The Eagles competed well in the lower weights. 
Dustin Stodola, the fourth-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds, improved to 21-0 after a 7-2 decision over Zachary Shank, and freshman 
Jacob Anderson followed with a solid 8-5 decision over CJ York at 149 pounds.
 
CJ Clark, a junior from Rapid City, S.D., cruised to a 13-3 major decision over Garrett Adams at 157 but the Mountaineers took control of the dual after Clark won. Western State's Austin Harris earned a close 3-2 decision over 
Tyler Smart at 165 and Elliot Copeland, ranked third at 174 pounds, claimed a 5-3 deicsion over his younger brother, Caleb.
 
After a pair of Western State wins at 184 and 197, Chadron State's 
Michael Hill ended the dual on a positive note for the Eagles in earning a 4-2 decision over Lane Stuht.
 
The Eagles will be back in action, Wednesday, Feb. 5 in a non-conference dual at Dickinson State.
