Adams State bests CSC women in overtime

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo—Junior guard Desiree Anderson scored nine of her 21 points in overtime here Saturday night as the Adams State women's basketball team defeated Chadron State 66-54 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest.
 
Adams State (6-6 overall and 2-5 in the RMAC) led 26-24 at halftime and was ahead the entire second half, once by seven points, until Chadron State's Hattie Guzman hit a 3-pointer with just over two minutes to play to tie the score at 51-51.
 
Neither team scored again, but a long 3-point attempt by the Eagles' Dallas Shaw hit off the front of the rim just ahead of the buzzer.
 
Shaw sank a shot from in the paint to open the scoring in overtime, but Anderson and her teammates began their winning surge with three minutes to play.  Anderson hit six of eight free throws and a 3-pointer in the extra session the spark the victory.
 
Anderson was just five of 18 from the field for the game, but all five of her baskets were treys. Emily Klint added 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Grizzlies.
 
Chadron State was led by senior Kayli Rageth with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Shaw finished with 13 points and both Guzman and Kate Simonton scored eight.
 
The Eagles (1-11 and 1-7) shot 42.2 percent from the field, but did not go to the free throw line in the first half, made just eight of 16 from the line in the second half and one of two in overtime.
 
Chadron State will play at Black Hills State on Thursday night.
