GOLDEN, Colo. – Courtney Martin scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Sam Rusk hit four 3-pointers and added 16 points to lead Colorado School of Mines to a 66-55 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State College Friday.

With the win, Colorado School of Mines improves to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the RMAC. Chadron State, which will play at Colorado Christian Saturday, falls to 1-6 and 1-2 in the conference.

The two teams nearly played an even first half – Mines owned a 38-34 halftime time – but the Orediggers began to pull away midway through the second half. With 11 minutes to play, Chadron State's
Maka Daysh converted a layup to tie the game at 47-47 but over the next seven minutes Colorado Mines went on a 12-2 scoring run to pull away.

During the late run, Martin made all four of her attempts from the field and Rusk added a jumper to provide the scoring punch. Â

Point guard
Emma Block led Chadron State with 13 points and a game-high four assists.
Kate Simonton chipped in 12 points and Daysh had nine points and a team-high five boards. Both Simonton and Block also made three treys.

For the game, Chadron State hit 20 of 59 from the field (34 percent), while Mines converted 24 of 55 (44 percent). Both teams shot 33 percent from long range – CSC made six and Mines sank five – but the Orediggers hit 13 of 17 free throws compared to nine of 18 for the Eagles.

Colorado Mines also out-rebounded Chadron State 47 to 28. The Orediggers added nine offensive rebounds, resulting in 30 second chance points.
