The Chadron State College basketball teams will return to the Denver area this weekend to wrap up the 2014 portion of their schedules.

The Eagles will visit Regis on Friday night and play at Metro State on Saturday night. Both twin-bills will start at 5 p.m. and be aired on KQSK-FM radio in Chadron.

The CSC women are 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the RMAC. The men are 3-5 and 2-2.

The Regis women are 6-2 for the season and 1-2 in the conference. In RMAC play, they have lost to Metro State 73-62 and CSU-Pueblo 60-56, but edged the University of Colorado Colorado Springs 92-89 last Saturday night.

The Rangers' top guns are junior guards Bay'Lee Purdy and Caresse Williams, who are averaging 17.3 and 14.4 points, respectively.

The Regis men are 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the RMAC after being threshed in all three games. Metro beat the Rangers 82-52, Pueblo won 89-53 and Colorado Springs prevailed 94-53.

Brett Hartshorne, a 6-foot-6 senior from Belgium, leads in scoring at 14.7 points a game. Dexter Sienko, a 6-6 freshman, is next in scoring at 9 points a game and is the top rebounder with a 6.7 average.

The Rangers feature experienced coaches. Men's mentor Lonnie Porter is in his 38th and final season at Regis and women's coach Linde Raunig is in her 24th year at the school.

The Metro women are 4-3 for the season and 1-2 in the conference. Since beating Regis, the Roadrunners have been thumped by Colorado Springs 85-58 and edged by Pueblo 58-57. Deni Jacobs, a 5-11 senior leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points a game. Georgia Ohrdorf, a 6-0 freshman, is averaging 12.9 points and 7.4 rebounds.

The Metro men, who have been near the top of the RMAC for about 20 years, are strong again, but may not be quite as powerful as they have been in the past. They are 7-2 overall. After beating Regis by 30 points to open RMAC play, they lost on the road last weekend to Colorado Springs 69-66, but nipped Pueblo 75-74.

Two seniors from Australia are the Roadrunners' leaders again. Nicholas Kay, who is 6-9, is averaging 20.6 points and 6.0 rebounds and 6-3 Mitch McCarron, who is 6-3, is averaging 20.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.Â

Dalante Dunklin, a 6-0 junior, poured in 24 points during the squeaker with Pueblo on Saturday night.
