CHADRON – Five New Mexico Highlands players had at least five kills and the Cowgirls hit .187 as a team en route to a 25-22, 25-17, 25-22 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Friday.
Chadron State (3-10, 2-3 RMAC) played close with Highlands (5-9, 1-4 RMAC) in all three sets but the Eagles' errors proved to be costly. Chadron State finished the match with 23 hitting errors and Highlands served seven aces and had nine blocks.
Hanna Flaming had her best night of the season, pounding 11 kills and hit .318.
Erika Roybal had a team high 13 kills and
Lelalelei Nomura added five.
Also for CSC,
Shelby Gardner had a match high 31 assists.
Andrea Nunez led the Highlands' attack with eight kills. Alicia Moreno added seven and three others had five.
Also for the Cowgirls, setter Shayli Schulz had 15 assists and having six blocks to lead Highlands. Four Cowgirls had over eight digs, led by Moreno's 12.
Chadron State College closes out the weekend against CSU-Pueblo Saturday night at 6 p.m.
