CHADRON – Chadron State College men's basketball team fell to No. 12 University of Colorado-Colorado Springs 96-75 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup
Saturday evening.
Chadron State (4-13, 3-10 RMAC) opened strongly against nationally-ranked UCCS (17-2, 11-2 RMAC) and kept things close in the opening half. However, after the game was tied at 15-15, the Mountain Lions' tandem of RMAC Preseason Player of the Year Derrick White and Alex Welsh took over, leading the team on a 31-10 run to take a 46-25 lead, with two minutes remaining in the half. After the half, Chadron State could never close the gap.
White sank half of his shots from the field for a game-high 26 points. Welsh, hit 11-16 from the field to finish with 25 points and added six boards.
Also for UCCS, Dalton Patten, scored 12 points and had five rebounds. Tim Haas had a game-high four assists.

Evan Brooks shot scored a team-high 18 points. Down low,
Davante McCallam was a perfect six for six shooting for 13 points and added four boards.
Christopher Smith shot 60 percent from the field to finish with 13 points, while
Roderick Butler went eight for eight from the foul line and ended with 10 points.
Chadron State next hosts Regis University and nationally-ranked Metro State,
Jan 30 and 31.
