CHADRON, Neb. - October 3, 2015 - The Chadron State College volleyball team fell to 4-10 (3-3 RMAC) after dropping a match to Western State Colorado University 3-1 Saturday night at the Chicoine Center in Chadron, Nebraska. The Mountaineers improved to 5-12 (3-4 RMAC) with the win.
Gaby Varela once again led the team in kills with 12, hitting a respectable .219 in the process.
The Mountaineers' Jordan Eatwell was impressive with 18 kills on a .268 hitting percentage, and tallied 11 digs in the process - good for second on the team. Libero Amanda Maestas had 16.
Chadron State never led in the first set, and only briefly held a one-point advantage in the second set.
In set three, the Eagles strolled out to an early lead, got a 6-0 run on service by Varela, and cruised to a 25-19 margin.
However in a thrilling set four, with seven ties and three lead changes, CSC came up short in a 25-23 decision.
Chadron State will make trips to Black Hills State and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology next weekend, before heading to Denver next Tuesday for a midweek tilt at Regis University.
