ABERDEEN, S.D—November 28, 2015—Northern State jumped out to a 45-21 halftime lead en route to defeating Chadron State 83-63 in a men's non-conference basketball game Saturday night in Aberdeen.
The Wolves, now 3-3, shot 57 percent from the field and Chadron State, 2-2, just 27 percent in the opening half. The Eagles warmed up in the second half to shoot 61 percent, but never closed the gap to less than 15 points.
Three guards combined for 52 of Northern State's points. Both Mack Arvidson and Skye Warwick poured in 18 points and Darin Peterka 16. They made 11 of the Wolves' 13 3-pointers with Warwick's five of seven showing from behind the arc leading the way.
Chadron State was paced by junior guard
Warren Gordon's 21 points, while senior center Davante McCallum contributed 18 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Both point totals are career-highs, but none of the other Eagles scored more than seven points.
Gordon was seven of 10 and McCallum was seven of nine from the field. Gordon meshed two of CSC's three treys and made all five of his free throws.
The Eagles will open their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference slate on Saturday, Dec. 5 by hosting the Regis Rangers following the game between the women's teams from the two schools. The double-header will tip off at 5:30 in the Chicoine Center.
