CHADRON, Neb. — December 12, 2015 -- Down by as much as 10 in the third quarter, the Chadron State College women's basketball team (1-6) rallied to tie South Dakota School of Mines & Technology with under five minutes in the game, but were unable to capitalize on the momentum, falling 71-64. The Hardrockers (4-3) pick up their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win in school history, while the Eagles drop to 1-2 in league play.
CSC shot just 56.0% from the free throw line, missing 11 of 25 shots. Meanwhile, SDSM&T hit on an incredible 80.0% from the charity stripe. The Chadron State women also shot their seasons' second-lowest percentage from the field, cashing in on only 34.4% of shots.
The Eagles were outrebounded by 10, with the opponents grabbing 46 to their 36.
For the first time in 2015-16, however, they found themselves on the positive side of the turnover battle, losing only 11 balls to the Hardrockers' 12. Three Eagles -
Allegria Chisom,
Emma Block, and
Jasmine Hill, posted their first plus-side assist-to-turnover ratio in a game. Previously the team had never had three such performances on the same night.
For the Hardrockers, four players scored in double-digits. Kahlie Peterson and Devyn Asche both picked up double-doubles on the night.
Allegria Chisom posted her highest point total of the season, and third-highest as an Eagle, to lead the team with 14 points.
The Eagle women travel to MSU Denver on Friday night, before tangling with UCCS in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
