CHADRON, Neb. - December 12, 2015 -- The Chadron State College men's basketball team (4-3, 2-1 RMAC) lost a hard-fought game Saturday night against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (4-3, 2-1 RMAC), in the third Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game for both teams.
The Eagles shot an outstanding 92.3% from the free throw line. However, they were assessed with 25 fouls to the opponents' 12, and accordingly had less than half the attempts from the line.
In the back-and-forth affair, the score was tied eight times, and the lead changed hands 11 times. The Eagles led for the first 13 minutes of the game, and didn't give up the lead for good until juist 43 seconds remaining in the game.
Billy Johnson (16 points) and
Davante McCallam (10 points) both scored in double figures for Chadron State.
Matt Reader was 6-of-6 from the free throw line to finish with nine points.
Four Hardrockers scored in double-digits. Konor Kulas, their leading scorer with 17 points, was 9-of-11 on free-throws.
The Eagles go to MSU Denver on Friday night, and visit UCCS in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
