Eagles to wrap up home schedule this weekend

The Chadron State College basketball teams will wrap up their home schedules this weekend, taking on Colorado Christian University Friday night and Colorado Mines Saturday night in the Chicoine Center.  Both doubleheaders will start at 5:30.
 
Both Colorado Christian teams are "on the bubble" to be among the eight RMAC teams to advance to the playoffs. The Colorado Mines at 14-3 in the conference (18-3 overall) have a spot wrapped up. At 6-11 in the conference the Lady Orediggers are not apt to reach post-season action.
 
The Christian women are one of three RMAC teams with 10-7 conference marks. Colorado Mesa leads the league standings at 14-3, Colorado-Colorado Springs is 13-3, while CSU-Pueblo, Regis, Black Hills State join the Cougars with 10 wins. Fort Lewis, Western New Mexico and Metro State all have nine victories.
 
At 7-10, the CSC women are in 10th place, one spot ahead of Mines.
 
The Christian men are 9-8 and in the eighth slot in the RMAC, three wins ahead of Black Hills State and four ahead of the Eagles, the teams directly behind them.
 
Metro State is 15-2 and leads the men's standings after beating Mines 67-57 last weekend. Entering this week's action, Mines was next, followed by Colorado Springs at 13-3, Fort Lewis at 12-4, Pueblo at 11-5 and Mesa at 11-6.  Adams State is 10-6, one place in front of the Cougars.
 
The Colorado Christian women edged the Eagles 62-56 in overtime when the teams met in Lakewood in December. They have three players averaging in double figures, led by 5-11 junior Kate Louthan at 13 points. She's also the Lady Cougars' top rebounder at 6.8 per game.
 
The Colorado Mines women topped the Eagles 66-55 in December in Golden. Their pacesetters are 5-10 senior Taylor Hilbig, who is averaging 15.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. Courtney Martin, a 6-2 junior, at 13.6 and 5.7.
 
The Colorado Christian men bested the Eagles 70-59 in December. They possess one of the RMAC's top 3-point shooters in 6-3 senior Michael Brown, who has bagged 71 treys in 150 attempts for 47.3 percent. He's averaging 16.6 points while Tyler Shields and Wayne McCullough, a pair of 6-5 forwards, are averaging 10.6 and 10.5. The Cougars' 79.2 percent field goal shooting is the best in the conference.
 
The Mines men are great shooters. Their 52.3 percent overall field goal figure and 41.9 percent 3-point marksmanship are the best in the RMAC. Their 74.3 percent free throw tab is second behind the Cougars.
 
The Orediggers' leading scorer, 6-foot senior Brian Muller, is shooting exactly 50 percent from 3-point range (58-116) and he's made 90 percent of his free throws (63-70). He's the team's leading scorer at 15.9 a game.
 
Gokul Natesan, a 6-5 sophomore, is averaging 13.7 points and has made 53 of 119 triples. Trevor Ritchie, a 6-5 senior, is averaging 13 points and shooting 57 percent from the field.
