The Chadron State Eagles volleyball team dominated their way to a three straight set victory on Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opening play over Fort Lewis College.
The Eagles and Skyhawks battled in the first set with Chadron State winning it 25-22. The second set was close early on before the Eagles walked away with it 25-15 and the third set ended 25-21.
Sophomore
Alexis Farris finished the evening with a hitting percentage of .412 and eight kills on the night. Coach
Chris Wells said "Alexis had a big night and helped us get the victory".
In the three sets the Eagles outscored the Skyhawks 75-58, finished with a higher hitting percentage .236 to .107 and had a better defensive presence with 63 to 54 digs overall.
Coach Wells commentated after the game that the team played strong and that was clear on the court with a never quit attitude in front of the home crowd.
The Eagles opened up play in their new home the Chicoine Center in front of a boisterous crowd with smoke, flames and new introduction music. The atmosphere was loud and electric for the first home game of the season.
