CHADRON, Neb. -- January 22, 2016 -- Led by 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists by
Stephanie Knowles and 16 points and 10 rebounds by
Maka Daysh, the Chadron State College women's basketball team won its third straight game Friday night by defeating the Westminster Griffins 71-58.
The victory evens the Eagles' Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record at 6-6. Westminster, which joined the RMAC this year, is 3-9 in the league. Both are 6-10 overall.
The Eagles shot 52 percent from the field while building a 30-16 halftime advantage. The hosts they poured in 31 points in the third quarter to widen the margin to 61-36. For the game, Chadron State shot 48.4 percent from the field, compared to Westminster's 38 percent.
The Griffins' junior guard, Aubrie Vale, took game scoring honors with 28 points, 21 of them in the second half. She was six-of-six from 3-point range, five of them in the second half.
Two more Westminster players, Natalie Parsons and Whitni Syrett, combined for 21 points, but the remaining Giffins totaled just eight points.
Six Eagles besides Knowles and Daysh combined for 38 points.
Chadron State  will host Colorado Mesa tonight (Saturday). Regis topped the Lady Mavericks 67-60 Friday night in Denver.
