ALAMOSA, Colo. -- January 29, 2016 -- The Chadron State College women's basketball team (7-11, 7-7 RMAC) ran its conference record back to .500 tonight, as it routed Adams State University (2-15, 1-13 RMAC) for the fourth win in their last five games.
Maka Daysh, who entered the weekend owning the 19th-best field goal percentage in the nation (57.6%), upped her average with 7-of-10 shooting to finish with 20 points. She also claimed her league-leading seventh double-double, adding 10 rebounds.
The Eagles overcame a deficit of nine turnovers by crashing the boards for a 45-29 advantage in rebounding. They also outshot the Grizzlies 51.8% to 37.5%.
Maddie Metzger came up with a season-high 12 points in just 14 minutes, on 6-of-9 shooting. She added six rebounds.
Emma Block hit 5 of 9 from three-point range to put 17 on the scoreboard.
Kayla Mathews went 3 of 7 from long range to finish with 14 points.
Statistically speaking,
Stephanie Knowles may have contributed the most. She hit 4 of 5 field goals to finish with just nine points, but was a prolific ball distributor with 10 assists. She nabbed five rebounds, knocked down four blocked shots, and nabbed four steals.
The Eagles dominated from wire to wire, never trailing and never tied. They took control mainly in the third fram, which they won 26-11.
Another road game stands in the way tomorrow night, as CSC visits Fort Lewis College. The Skyhawks fell 76-67 tonight to Regis at home, to equal the Eagle women in conference play at 7-7. Chadron State defeated Regis in Chadron for their conference opener.
