GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- The Chadron State College women (8-16, 8-12 RMAC) shot their best game of the season from the free throw line, but the Colorado Mesa range shooters rained 14 threes in the game, including seven in the first quarter, as Colorado Mesa improved to 16-8 (13-7 RMAC) on their home court.
CMU's Sydney Small led both teams with 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line. Bryanna Adams got her 14 points mostly from her 4-of-7 three-point shooting.
After the initial 10-minute flurry, CSC was able to put together a decent enough offensive performance to keep the pace with the Mavericks, but couldn't overcome the early adversity completely, as the streaky Mavs settled into defensive posture, sending the Eagles to the foul line 18 times while allowing only 15 field goal attempts.
Allegria Chisom led the Eagles with 13 points on 4-of-8 field goal shooting, while
Maka Daysh was held under her season averages per game with 12 points and eight rebounds. Other Eagles in double figures were
Kayla Mathews with 11 and
Erin Graham with 10.
CSC will play tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in the program's first-ever game at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
