CHADRON, Neb. -- April 23, 2016 -- The Chadron State softball team solidified the top overall winning percentage in program history after splitting a doubleheader with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at home on Senior Day Weekend. The Eagles' win today ensures that their current mark of .616 overall will stand above the .549 attained in 2014, even through the end of the season.
CSC remains within striking distance of topping the program-best Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference winning percentage of .676 achieved in 2014. Standing at .667 today, they will finish ahead of that mark as well if they can go undefeated on Sunday with at least one win.
Also on Saturday the Senior Day games planned for an 11 a.m. start time were moved up one hour to 10 a.m. due to a forecast of potential afternoon thunderstorms. The Eagles' eight seniors will be honored between games, which presumably would be around 11:30 a.m.
Both pitchers continued their success in the circle, allowing only one earned run.
Tayler Hall allowed six hits in seven innings, while
Cierra Cosslett gave up only seven. Hall's seven strikeouts tied her at second all-time in program history with 278 in only two seasons.
The Eagles have solidified the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament following separation from both No. 2 MSU Denver and No. 4 Regis University. They will face the sixth seed, which is currently undetermined, on Thursday in Grand Junction, Colorado.
