ST. GEORGE, Utah -- February 10, 2018 -- Despite an earned runs advantage of 3-2, the Chadron State College softball team gave up three unearned on four errors in the first four innings. The Eagles left nine on base in the 5-3 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Chadron State finishes the tournament with a season record of 2-8. Dixie State improved to 7-0 on the year so far.
CSC pitcher
Jessica Jarecki put in another excellent complete game effort. She pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts. The sophomore ace is out in front of her sensational freshman numbers, pitching opponents to a .183 batting average and sporting an ERA of 2.33. Jarecki has 44 strikeouts now in 39 inning pitched.
Sophomore
Alyssa Geist led the Eagles in the batter's box, with an RBI single in the third and an RBI double in the fifth, to finish at 2-for-3 with walk and one run scored.
Alexandria Melendez earned the win for the Trailblazers, going to 3-0 on the year with six full innings pitched. Madi Dove claimed a save.
The Eagles are off next weekend in preparation for their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener at No. 8 Colorado Mesa.
